Mechanical Connection
The inside diameter of the suction and discharge hoses should be approximately 25% greater than that of the pump
hose. The nominal pump hose diameter is determined by the pump type. For example, a PK15 pump uses a hose
with a nominal diameter of 15 mm.
The suction hose must not collapse from 100% vacuum, and the discharge hose must be able to withstand the maximum
pressure of the pump.
There must always be a flexible hose of at least one meter between the pump and any rigid system piping. (Standard
connections are hose barb type.) Threaded connections, flanged connections, and Sanitary Tri-Clamp fittings are also
available. Contact the factory for details.
CAUTION:
Positive displacement pumps should always be fitted with a relief valve on the discharge.
Otherwise, the pump could be damaged if the maximum pressure is exceeded.
Installation/Change of the Pump Hose
WARNING:
Disconnect the pump from the main power source before performing any type of assembly or
maintenance operation, including but not limited to hose installation, hose connection, shim
installation, spare part installation, and cleaning.
WARNINGS:
Keep loose hair, gloves, loose clothing, jewelry, and fingers away from openings and
moving parts.
The casing cover must be in place, and hands must not be put into the pump casing,
unless the drive is stopped and the power is disconnected.

Barnant/Ponndorf
1) Unscrew drain plug to remove the
Ponndorf special lubricant bath. Collect
the liquid in a suitable basin.
2) Unscrew the connecting sockets and
remove them from the hose.
3) Start the motor to remove the hose.
