3.1 Preparation process
Prepare for installation
1. Ensure that you understand all safety topics described in the chapter “ Safety ” , page 7 .
2. Check if all installation requirements are fulfilled such as:
• the environmental conditions of the installation area,
• the electrical facilities,
• cooling requirements,
• the capabilities of the supporting structure (table/ceiling)
• etc ... for more info see chapter “ Installation requirements ” , page 32 .
3. Unpack the projector. See chapter “ Unpacking the projector ” , page 34 .
4. Unpack the chiller(s). For more information, see the separate chiller installation manual.
5. In case of a first install perform an initial inspection of the projector. See chapter “ Initial inspection ” .
6. Define the installation position of the projector. For detailed info, see “ Projector configurations ” , page 37 .
7. Define the vertical shift position of the lens holder. Shift the lens holder if necessary. For detailed info, see
“ Additional vertical shift of the Lens Holder ” , page 40 .
8. Select the lens that will best fit for the application. See chapter “ Lens selection ” , page 42 , and “ Available
lenses ” , page 41 .
3.2 Installation process
Physical installation process overview
1. Install the projector in the desired position taking following points into account:
• Ensure that the physical setup of projector complies with all safety requirements such as the hazard
distance restriction zone etc. See safety chapter
“ High Brightness precautions: Hazard Distance ” , page
15 .
• Projector configuration:
-
In case of a standing installation:
◦ Use a solid pedestal to place a single XDL projector on (with or without dedicated external
frame)
- In case of a hanging installation:
◦ Use an external frame to suspend the XDL projector (Table Mount or Ceiling Mount).
Note: While Barco does not offer a dedicated rigging frame for the XDL series projectors, there
are options available for purchase in the market. For detailed instructions on how to use (install,
suspend, adjust, etc) the external frame, consult the documentation provided with the dedicated
frame.
2. Install the projector in the desired position taking following points into account:
• Projector configuration. In case of table mount use a solid pedestal. In case of suspended installation
use a dedicated frame.
• Ensure that the physical setup of projector complies with all safety requirements such as the hazard
distance restriction zone etc. See safety chapter
“ High Brightness precautions: Hazard Distance ” , page
15 .
3. Installation of the lens. For detailed instructions see “ Lens installation ” , page 57 .
Caution: Instal the lens safety cable in case the projector is mounted above people. For detailed
instructions see documentation of the lens safety cable. For ordering info see Barco website.
4. Connect the projector with the external chiller(s). For detailed info, see chapters:
• “ Connecting the hoses with projector and chillers ” , page 48
• “ Connecting the data cable with projector and chillers ” , page 49
