3. Check the “air in” side of the dust fi lter for dust and/or grease .
In case the fi lter is contaminated with grease wash and dry the dust fi lter. See cleaning procedure "Washing and drying the dust
fi lters", page 97.
In case the fi lter contains dust but doesn’t feel greasy then vacuum clean the dust fi lter. See procedure "Vacuum cleaning of the
dust fi lters", page 96.
Note: Grease on the fi lter can build up after several months in an environment contaminated with greasy air. Note that areas
where popcorn is consumed are subject to greasy air.
Tip: Take into account that the time needed to dry the dust fi lters may be 24 hours or more. For that, it’s recommended to
have a second set of dust fi lters which can be used while cleaning the fi rst set.
4. Attach the clean dust fi lters to the inner side of the front cover door. Ensure that both latches and both mounting lips (reference
1 and 2 image 11-2) of the dust fi lters are engaged.
Caution: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD WET FILTERS BE INSTALLED BACK INTO THE PROJECTOR. THIS
CAN HAVE SERIOUS SAFETY CONSEQUENCES AS WELL AS JEOPARDIZE INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF
THE SYSTEM.
5. Reinstall the small side panel (if removed, see image 11-1) and close the front cover door.
The dust fi lter is cleanable. See cleaning procedure for correct cleaning and drying instructions.
11.2 Vacuum cleaning of the dust fi lters
When to vacuum the dust fi lters?
The dust fi lters of the projector should be checked every month. If the fi lters are contaminated with dust then cleaning the fi lters with
a vacuum cleaner should be suf fi cient. In case the fi lters feel greasy these must be washed. See cleaning procedure "Washing and
drying the dust fi lters", page 97.
This procedure assumes that the dust fi lters are removed from the projector.
Necessary tools
Vacuum cleaner with soft brush suction nozzle.
How to vacuum-clean the dust fi lter?
1. Carefully vacuum the air inlet side of the dust fi lter. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush suction nozzle. The air inlet side of
the dust fi lter is the side which is surrounded with a glue edge.
Tip: Lightly tap the fi lter on its dusty side to expel heavy dust contamination.
Tip: Compressed air is also permitted to clean the fi lters but take care not to damage them.
Caution: Do not use compressed air inside the booth area. Bring the dust fi lters outside the building to blow off the dust.
Caution: Do not damage the dust fi lter. Replace damaged dust fi lters immediately.
