8.5.4 Network Con fi guration
DHCP
Dynamic host con fi guration protocol. DHCP is a communications protocol that lets network administrators manage
centrally and automate the assignment of IP addresses in an organization’s network. Using the Internet Protocol, each
machine that can connect to the Internet needs a unique IP address. When an organization sets up its computer users
with a connection to the Internet, an IP address must be assigned to each machine. Without DHCP, the IP address
must be entered manually at each computer and, if computers move to another location in another part of the network,
a new IP address must be entered. DHCP lets a network administrator supervise and distribute IP addresses from
a central point and automatically sends a new IP address when a computer is plugged into a different place in the
network.
What can be done?
The necessary network addresses (con fi guration) can be entered so that the projector can be connected to a LAN (local area net-
work).
Set up the network con fi guration
1. Push the cursor key ↑ or ↓ to highlight Communication . (menu 8-16)
2. Press ENTER to select.
The communication menu will be displayed. (menu 8-17)
3. Push the cursor key ↑ or ↓ to highlight Network Con fi guration .
4. Press ENTER to select.
The Network Con fi guration menu will be displayed (menu 8-18)
5. Set DHCP on or off (contact your network responsible for the correct setting in your environment).
DHCP on DHCP server assigned an IP address to the client (network projector).
DHCP off the client has to fi ll out the IP address, the subnet mask and the default gateway.
