Basic functions (continued)
6.3
Switch point mode
In Single Point Mode, teach-in defines only one switch
point. Only
Set Point SP1
in Register 0x003C, Subindex
0x01 is active. The second switch point is calculated
depending on SP1 internal to the sensor such that 10%
hysteresis is set.
Set Point SP2
in Register 0x003C,
Subindex 0x02 is not used.
A greater, user-defined hysteresis can be set in two-point
mode. In two-point mode, SP1 and SP2 are taught by the
user in the teach-in. SP1 must be the closer switch point
and SP2 the more distant switch point. The hysteresis
between SP1 and SP2 must be greater than the standard
hysteresis of 10%.

Switching inputs and outputs
6.4.1 SIO mode
In SIO mode, the digital output C/Q (Pin 4) is factory set as
a push-pull switching output. DIO (Pin 2) is set as a
switching input for starting a manual teach with teach
adapter.
When the counting function is enabled, other
configurations are possible for Pin 4 and Pin 2 in SIO mode
C/Q and DIO can be configured using a USB master in
The sensor can then also be operated without any
connection to IO-Link in SIO mode without a changed
configuration.
6.4.2 IO-Link mode
In IO-Link mode the digital output C/Q (Pin 4) is factory set
as the IO-Link communication channel.
DIO retains its configured function.
In the
Sensor Output
setting, each of the digital switching
outputs C/Q and DIO is configured as PNP, NPN or push-
pull (Register 0x00B4) and as normally open or normally
closed (Register 0x00B5).
For fast switching cycles while maintaining IO-Link
communication C/Q can be configured as an IO-Link
communication channel and DIO as a digital switching
output.
The switching function in SIO mode corresponds to
Binary
Data Channel 1
(BDC1) in IO-Link mode. When toggling
between IO-Link and SIO mode, the settings (switching
logic, switch points) remain unchanged.
If C/Q is configured as an NPN output, only IO-Link
communication is possible at Pin 4; the switching state in
SIO mode cannot be evaluated.
In the
Teach-in Input
setting the switching logic of DIO is
always
High active
(Register 0x003D) and cannot be
changed.
6.5
Teach procedure
Prerequisite:
The sensor is mounted, aligned, and in IO-Link
mode and equipped with a teach adapter.
Unlike with conventional sensors, this sensor allows the
user to determine the switching distance. This is possible
both over IO-Link and in SIO mode. In both cases there is
a reply when the teach is successful. The switching
distance can be set in the safe teach area as per Tab. 6-2.
When attempting a teach outside this range, an error
message is issued and the sensor was not taught the new
switching distance.
