7.5.6 Temperature sensing
The following temperature values are output by the BML as
signed 16-bit values in units of °C (Index 0x0052 (82)):
Subindex
Name
Length Access
1
Current temperature
2 bytes
Read
Only
2
Minimum temperature
since start of operation
2 bytes
Read
Only
3
Maximum temperature
since start of operation
2 bytes

4
Minimum temperature
over the entire service
life
2 bytes

Only
5
Maximum temperature
over the entire service
life
2 bytes

Only
Tab. 7-13: Structure of the temperature values
The temperature sensor detects the
temperature within the BML. This is always
higher than the ambient temperature.
7.5.7 Threshold values for temperature warning
The BML allows you to define the following temperature
threshold (Index 0x0053 (83)):
Subindex
Name
Length Access
1
Threshold for minimum
temperature exceeded
2 bytes
Read/
Write
2
Threshold for maximum
temperature exceeded
2 bytes
Read/
Write
Tab. 7-14: Structure of the threshold values
The thresholds can be set within a range of –25…+125 °C
(internal temperature).
When these threshold values are violated the BML issues a
warning (see
If the internal temperature of the BML exceeds
BML 95 °C, an
Overtemperature
error is output.
7.5.8 Sensor operating hours
The operating hours are acquired within the BML and
permanently stored in hour intervals (Index 0x0057 (87)).
Subindex
Name
Length Access
1
Operating hours over
the entire service life
4 bytes
Read
Only
2
Operating hours since
last maintenance
4 bytes

3

Tab. 7-15: Structure of the operating hours
The system command
Reset Maintenance (0xA5)
resets
the sensor operating hours for maintenance to zero.
7.5.9 Boot cycle counter
Each time the BML is reinitialized it increments the
permanently stored boot cycle counter. Both a system
command
Device Reset
and a hardware reset will
increment the counter.
The 32-bit value can be read out from Index 0x0058 (88),
Subindex 0.
7.5.10 Signal quality
(available only for BML SL1-ALZ1-UEZZ-_U1L-…)
The signal quality indicates the quality of the measurement
signal from 0…100%. A value of 255% (0xFF) means the
signal quality is undetermined. The signal quality (Index
0x00CF) is output as follows:
Subindex
Name
Length Access
1
Current signal quality
1 byte

2
Maximum signal quality
1 byte

3
Minimum signal quality
1 byte

4

5

Tab. 7-16: Signal quality structure
The
Reset Maintenance
command resets all signal quality
parameters.
