READING BUOYS AND OTHER MARKERS
The waters are marked for safe navigation by buoys. Simply put, buoys and markers have an arrangement of shapes,
colours, numbers and lights to show which side of the buoy a boater should pass on when navigating in a particular
direction. The markings on these buoys are oriented from the perspective of being entered from seaward (the boater is
going towards the port). This means that red buoys are passed on the starboard (right) side when proceeding from open
water into port and green buoys are to port (left) side. When navigating out of port your position with respect to the
buoys should be reversed, red buoys should be to port and green buoys to starboard.
Many bodies of water used by boaters are entirely within the boundaries of a particular state. The uniform state
waterway marking system has been devised for these waters. This system uses buoys and signs with distinctive shapes
and colours to show regulatory or advisory information. These markers are white with black letters and orange borders.
They signify speed zones, restricted areas, danger areas, and general information. Remember, markings may vary by
geographic location. Always consult local boating authorities before driving your Ballistic
®
in unfamiliar waters.
This manual cannot provide complete training on all aspects of boat operation. All operators of this Ballistic
®
are
encouraged to seek additional training on boat handling and safety. Many states require operators under the age of 18 to
be licensed in small boat operation and offer training and certiRication courses.

Why Ballistic?
Because in life you get what you pay for, and Ballistic RIBs are designed with no expense spared.
As its name suggests, the Ballistic
®
is fast, very fast, but it is also one of the safest and most stable RIB’s ever designed;
from the unique reverse scalloped chines that guarantee speed and stability, to the deep V-shaped hull which ensures
exhilarating lift and performance.
All Ballistic
®
boats also have an immensely strong, triple part Ribreglass structure, comprising hull, chassis and deck
mouldings. This is bonded together with Lloyds of London approved, high-quality resins. This is another feature, which
sets it apart from ordinary RIBs.
The Ballistic
®
has proven its capabilities all over the world in many different ways: for commercial, leisure, high
performance sport and race use. It is built not only for most offshore sea conditions but also inland lakes and rivers. Put
simply, the Ballistic can tackle ocean conditions that keep other RIBs at home as well as the calmest of Italian lakes.
