naturally on acoustic pianos when keys are pressed, and the selected dampers remain lifted as additional notes
are played. To hear this harmonically rich sound, follow the steps below.
STEP 2
One note at a time, sharply tap and release the notes that
make up a
C
chord (starting at middle C).
Listen to the sound!

While still holding your C with the left hand, sharply tap and release the notes played
in Step 2 again with your right hand. You will now hear the sympathetic string vibrations.

to the Concert Grand sound, repeat steps 2 through 4 on an acoustic piano.

Now lightly play and hold down a

chord using your
left hand in the octave below middle
C
. Allow the sound
of the notes to disappear.
Continue to hold down the keys
even after the notes have stopped sounding!
