Position the boot and boot plate assembly as shown in
Figure 2-7b for 60” deck models and as shown in Figure
2-7c for 50” deck models. Insert the boot rod P#(B0244)
through the boot plate hole followed by the mower’s
deflector shield mount holes. Fasten the boot rod with
(1) 3/32” x 2” hair pin clip P#(K0099).
2-8 Length Of Hose Adjustment
The hose in steps 2-9 must be cut to fit your machine.
Do not cut the hose until you have tried to fit them on
your machine. Remember that the hose needs to be
long enough to allow for enough clamping surface
between the inlet and the deck boot.
2-9 Hose Installation
Examine Figure 2-9. Slide a 5”-6” hose clamp P#(J6011)
onto one end of the 6” hose. Fasten that end of the 6”
hose onto the inlet. Make sure there is about a two-inch
overlap between the hose end and the inlet. Tighten the
hose clamp. Next, slide a 5”-6” hose clamp P#(J6011)
onto the unattached end of the 6” hose. Fasten that end
of the 6” hose onto the boot. Make sure there is about a
two-inch overlap between the hose end and the boot.
Tighten the hose clamp.
