The Sashiko stitching will not unravel when the thread is cut
but the stitching can be pulled apart if the fabric pieces are
pulled. To prevent this you will want to secure the stitches by
leaving a long enough thread tail to be anchored.
It is really a matter of preference as to how you would like to
secure your stitches. The following are several recommend-
ed techniques:
1. Use of a hand sewing needle – thread needle with end of
thread to be secured, insert needle into fabric and pull to
the fabric backside, make several small stitches and cut.

2. Pull end of thread to fabric backside, make loop to form
a knot and cut. (Fig. B)
3. Using fabric adhesive on the fabric backside place a drop
on the stitch to be secured and let dry. (Fig. C)
NOTE:
Do not stitch back over previous stitching or stitch
down the same row of stitching as this could jam the
machine or cause machine damage.
