5.2.1 The Configuration Items
Under “Configuration Items” all the modifiable data are grouped:
•
HW Configuration
Configuration and parameters to interact with the available hardware resources (for instance:
printers, badge readers and scales).
•
SW Configuration
Configuration and parameters to set up the software behaviour as required by the customer
(for instance: which data archives are used among the available ones, which data have to be
input for every weighing operation and what instead is only optional).
•
Database Data
The internal database used by the software application to store the data for the weighing
process (for instance: customer archive, product archive and weighing archive)
•
Customization
Customizations made on public elements of the software systems, like icons and captions
used by graphic controls. For instance, these data allow to change the displayed name of the
customer archive from “Customer” to “Client”. See “ 5.2.2 The Customized
Folder
” paragraph
below for more info.
5.2.2 The Customized Folder
This folder is in the public area of the internal memory (therefore always visible and modifiable from
outside) and is used to store public data that can be easily customized. This to support a first simple
customization of the system, without a real change inside the software code.
Some examples of what can be customized:

Archive Images
Data stored inside some archives (e.g. Customer and Product) can be showed as a list of
records (left picture below) or also as a sequence of images linked to records (right picture
below). The images used in the second case are stored in this folder and can be directly
managed by the customer.

Texts used by the graphic interface
The public texts

shown by the graphic controls (buttons or windows) are stored in resource
files. These files are stored in the Customized folder and can be directly modified by the
customer. Below an example where the caption “Customer” is changed to “Client” modifying
the value in the resource file.
