Lubricating the drive shaft
Over time the spindle drive on the Variomatic’
speed control assembly will need lubricating to
prevent the moving pulleys from seizing. It is
recommend to check and lubricate the shaft on
a regular basis.
1) Remove the four dome head screws holding the
head stock cover in place. Remove cover, clean the
pulley mechanism and remove any build up resin
debris. Use a push type grease gun for chainsaw
sprocket nose guide bar. Place it over the grease
nipple to the end of the motor drive shaft & pump
in grease several time until you see it emage over
spring assembly. Re-fit the cover and secure in
place.

Pump grease into the shaft serveral times, you will see
grease emerge from the spring.
2) Spray ambersil PTFE film anti-stick over the lathes
spindle shaft & Swivel mechanisum this will help to
reduce friction and to help prevent it from corroding.
