new target profile to the list. Of course, each new target satellite needs a minimum of information
to be updated for its unique profile:
Profile Name
Target Satellite & longitude
Receive Polarization
Reference satellite profile, if used
Information may be needed for the profile in accordance with satellite specifics, for example:
Satellite inclination (if any)
RSL Minimum Lock Threshold (minimum signal level to detect with RSL)
Satellite Pol Offset (if any)
Type of polarization (feed dependent)
If for instance, your new satellite will be acquired using a different signaling device (ie: modem), this
information needs to be added to the new Profile. Some examples of parameters to be updated may
include:
Modem Type.
Modem Scan Width
Acquisition Sources for scanning and peaking
Modem Lock Threshold
AvL technical staff works closely with our customers to insure that configuration details for system
enhancements are captured and kept on file for reference. All equipment additions require AvL
software “modules” to allow basic communication with devices.
5.8.2 Configuration Parameter Types
Parameters are broken up into four categories:
The “Core” Parameters are based on the equipment “model” and do not
typically change between profiles.
The “Target” Parameters are Satellite specific and need to be updated
unless the new profile will be used for a
different
carrier on the
same
satellite.
The “Signal” Parameters will change with carrier type and any external
signaling equipment specifics. (i.e. – modem, beacon rcvr.)
