INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The
FBR-1VM-TX-MINI
and
FBR-1VM-RX-MINI
operate as a transmitter / receiver pair for the
transmission of one baseband NTSC or PAL video signal, over a single multimode fiber.
The
FBR-1VM-TX-MINI
converts one video input, to an optical fiber output.
The
FBR-1VM-RX-MINI
converts an optical fiber input into one video output.
These units are contained in compact and rugged steel housings with internal dc voltage regulation. The
detachable terminal blocks and LED indicators provide for easy installation and monitoring of video,
optical link, and dc power.
The units operate surface mounted, as modular, stand-alone units.
INSTALLATION
THE INSTALLATION OF THIS UNIT SHOULD BE MADE BY A QUALIFIED SERVICE
PERSON(S) AND MUST CONFORM TO ALL LOCAL CODES.
The general connectivity of the units is detailed in Figure 1.
Mount the unit to a secure surface using #8 (3mm) hardware in four places. See Figure 2 for a full size
mounting template. Be sure to allow sufficient room for the required minimum bend radius of the fiber
cable used.
POWER SOURCE
The unit requires a +12VDC power source for proper operation. The DC input is diode protected against
reverse polarity connection.
In the USA and in Canada, for standalone surface mounted installation, an Aventura Technologies FBR-
PSUS12DC1A is supplied with this unit. Contact Aventura Technologies for ordering power supply
units for use in countries other than the USA and Canada.
POWER CONNECTION
Power is supplied to the unit via a two pin, detachable terminal block connector. Follow the labeling on
the unit for proper connections of the +12 volt dc and ground leads.
VIDEO INPUT/OUTPUT CONNECTION
The video input and output connections are made via BNC connectors on the front of the units. The
video input and output are 75 ohms. For proper operation, the video output must be terminated with 75
ohms. For optimum performance, the use of the shortest practical length of coax cables is recommended.
FIBER CONNECTION
The fiber optic connections are made via ST connectors, located on the rear of the units.
STATUS INDICATORS
The unit provides the following LED status indicators to aid in installation and troubleshooting:
