– closed doors or other obstacles may prevent "contact" between the
gas and the detector, thus delaying or preventing the alarm to go off or
preventing people from hearing the acoustic signal.
– Install a suitable quantity of gas detectors and acoustic warning devi-
ces.
Positioning
1) Methane gas detector
Methane gas is lighter than the air and
therefore rises and it concentrateds in
the highest point of the room.
The greatest concentrations of gas are
first found near the ceiling. For hori-
zontal and flat ceilings, the detector
must be placed
30cm from the cei-
ling. The sensor must be positioned
above the highest door or window.
For ceilings higher than normal and of
a shape different from horizontal, ask
the gas distributing Company for
advice on the positioning of the detec-
tor.
LPG gas detector
As LPG is heavier than air and it is
deposited in layers in the lower part of
the room, the greatest concentrations
are first found near the floor. The
detector must be placed at 30cm
approx. from the lowest stepping
level. The detector must not be placed
near exits or on the floor. Do not
install the detector on the floor. Do not
place the detector in areas where it
can be damaged by involuntary
shocks (as during normal household
cleaning, washing etc.).
