SPARC Server Maintenance Serial Connection

Connect the LOM (Lights Out Management) cable assembly between the LOM connection on the
Sun Fire to Serial Port A on the Speech Server.

The serial port settings are 9600 baud, 8 bit no parity. This connection can be operated with
HyperTerm to monitor and control the SPARC Server, see 

DB-9 to RJ-45 Serial adapter

 on

page 200, or with the optional terminal server.

Serial Port Connections to Multiple SPARC-Based Servers

You can implement remote management of multiple servers by using a terminal server. This
provides network for extended serviceability, see 

Configuring the Terminal Server

 on page 77.

Preparing to Apply Power to the MPS 500

1. Verify that all circuit packs are locked into their assigned slots.

2. Verify that all cable connectors are secured.

3. Set all circuit breakers to OFF.

Note:

Keep all external LAN cables unplugged until you have completed the site IP networking
configurations on the servers.
