After the Load Test is completed one of the following sample results will
appear.
Ready for service.
If the battery is marginal, it should
be replaced under adverse driving
conditions.
Replace Battery
Charge and place into service.
Battery did not have a sufficient
charge for a complete Load Test

VOLT METER and MAGNETO CHECK
Press (Y Enter)
The following will be displayed.
Note: If the car is running and
the clamps are attached to the
battery a high ripple (over 50.0
mv) indicates bad diodes in the
alternator
.
MAGNETO CHECK
Because of the nature of magneto charging systems, a ripple over
50.0mv (although high for an alternator) is acceptable. Instead of using
the Alternator Test feature, set the tester to the voltmeter function and
observe the charging voltage. You will notice that the ripple will level off
as the voltage increases to the maximum value (13.50 – 14.50 Volts).
This indicates that the system is charging the battery adequately. If the
voltage does not rise steadily after the engine is started, the Magneto
system is faulty.
Unusual problems with a battery and the need to localize loss of current
can be determined with the manual volt reading.
