2.  Plug the DC power connector of the auxiliary power outlet adapter into the DC 

power supply input port of the VCI. 

3.  Connect the clamp cable to the vehicle's battery. 

NOTE 

After the VCI is successfully connected to the vehicle, the Power LED on the VCI lights, 
and a beeping sound will be heard.

VCI Connection

 

After the VCI is properly connected to the vehicle, the Power LED on the VCI lights solid 
green, and is ready to establish communication with the tablet.     

The  VCI  device  supplied  with  the  MaxiCOM  Ultra  Lite  tool  kit  supports  three 
communication methods with the tablet: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB. 

Bluetooth Connection 

In open areas, the working range for Bluetooth (BT) communication is about 328 feet (100 
m), giving technicians greater mobility to perform vehicle diagnosis from anywhere in the 
repair shop.   

To  expedite  multi-vehicle  diagnostics,  more  than  one  VCIs  can  be  used  in  busy  repair 
shops enabling technicians to quickly pair (via Bluetooth) their diagnostics tablets to each 
VCI separately and therefore eliminating the need to physically connect the VCI to each 
vehicle. 

 

To pair the tablet with the VCI via Bluetooth 

1.  Power up the tablet. 

2.  Select the 

VCI Manager

 application from the MaxiCOM Job Menu.   

3.  Select

 VCI BT 

from the connection mode list

. 

Tap the Bluetooth toggle to turn it 

ON

.  The  device  automatically  scans  for  VCIs  available  for  Bluetooth  pairing. 

Available VCIs are listed in the Settings section on the right side of the screen. 

NOTE 

If no VCI is found, this may indicate that the signal strength is too weak to be detected. 
Reposition the VCI and remove all possible objects that may cause signal interference. 
Tap the 

Refresh 

button at the top-right corner to rescan for the VCI. 

4.  Typicall

y, the VCI name appears as “Maxi” suffixed with the VCI serial number. 

Select the VCI for pairing. (If more than one VCI is used in the shop, ensure the 
correct VCI is selected to pair.)   

5. 

When pairing is successful, the connection status reads “Connected.” 

6.  The  VCI  icon  on  the  tablet  navigation bar  on  the  bottom appears  as  a  green 

circle BT icon when the tablet and the VCI are connected.
