Troubleshooting Penrose:
• Pressing and holding the Headphone Volume Wheel, Mic Volume Wheel and Multi-Function Button at the same time will force-reboot
Penrose. This may be useful if Penrose develops stage-fright or other disagreeable attitudes.
• Can't control volume using your console or computer over 2.4gHz Wireless? In order to make volume changes in wireless mode, you
must turn the Volume Control wheel on the side of Penrose's left earcup.
• Can’t control mic gain using Penrose’s Mic Volume wheel? In AUX mode, the wheel is disabled and you must use the gain controls on
your source device.
• If you experience any strange mic-related anomalies, please make sure you’ve adjusted any settings on your source device and in the
software you’re using. There are often semi-hidden settings that control level, noise reduction, and other features, so check your
software guides and ask your co-pilots for advisement if you have trouble.
• If you have issues with Bluetooth connection, tell all BT source devices to “forget” Penrose, then re-connect one device at a time,
ensuring each works correctly before adding any others. We recommend a single BT connection for best results, as additional
connected devices may cause confusion.
• Due to ground path issues, some devices may create a humming sound in the rare cases that AUX and USB are wired to the same
device. If you experience this, there are two ways to solve it:
- Charge Penrose using a separate charging block instead of a USB port on your source device.
- Use the HQ app over BT to customize your Penrose, instead of relying on the USB cable.
• If you experience audio playback dropouts, clicks, or other signs of intermittent wireless connection, please try the following to
improve Penrose’s connection to its dongle:
- Make sure the dongle is connected directly to a strong USB port on your device. Bypass any USB hubs, or ports that are not wired
directly to the motherboard.
- For Penrose X, make sure the dongle’s slider switch is set for the correct device type (Xbox or PC/other).
- Be sure there are no other devices nearby that may be interfering with reception, such as other wifi devices, microwave ovens or
other appliances, etc. Moving out of range of any offending devices will usually improve connection.
- Unplug any unused USB devices to rule out potential conflicts.
- High speed USB 3.0 and higher ports can occasionally introduce some wireless interference that may cause jitter in your audio
and are not recommended. Keeping the dongle physically separated from 3.0 or higher ports may also help as they can emit radio
interference in the 2.4Ghz spectrum.
