Provox LaryButton - When and How to Use
The Provox LaryButton sits inside the stoma by itself and prevents the
tracheostoma from shrinking. It is used to hold the Provox HME’s, Provox
Shower Aid and the Provox FreeHands HME.
1. Sizing of the Provox LaryButton
• Your ability to use the LaryButton depends on the size and shape
of your stoma. It should fit well into your stoma without causing
irritation. Always discuss with a clinician before using
a LaryButton. Your clinician will be able to help you decide
which LaryButton is best for you.
2. Inserting the Provox LaryButton
• Lightly lubricate the small end of the LaryButton that fits into
your stoma. Use only a water soluble lubricant.
• Fold the narrow end with your fingers and hold it firmly folded.
• Insert the narrow end into your tracheostoma and
release your fingers.
• Make sure that the LaryButton is in the correct position and
that it is not pushing on the voice prosthesis.
• The LaryButton can be attached with Provox LaryClips,
or a Provox TubeHolder.
• Insert a Provox HME or Provox FreeHands HME into the
opening of the LaryButton.
3. Wearing your Provox LaryButton
• If you are having difficulty getting used to wearing your Provox
LaryButton, wear the LaryButton for as long as you can and then
take it off. Slowly increase the time you wear your LaryButton.
• Do not wear your LaryButton during the night. Use a Provox
Adhesive or a LaryTube with a smaller width so your
tracheostoma can shrink back down a bit.
TIP:
If your tracheostoma gets bigger throughout the day, you can
change to a larger size Provox LaryButton when necessary.
