Thule or Yakima compatible base rack (load bars and towers) for your vehicle
INSTALLATION
The following assumes your High Topper will face forward on your car. You may also position it facing
the rear.
1.
Check to be sure you have at least 20 inches between the load bars of your base rack for a safe
installation. Use the tape measure to measure the center-to-center distance between your load bars and
adjust if necessary per your base rack manufacturer’s directions.
2.
Using two mounting clamps, long bolts, washers, and nuts attach the fork mount to the front load bar.
Use the two holes to the sides of the fork mount’s riser. See figure below. Do not fully tighten clamps
at this time. If you have a severely curved roof and Thule load bars it may be easier to attach the
wheel tray if you position the fork mount clamps so that the bolts are behind the load bar, otherwise
we recommend positioning the clamps so that the bolts are in front of the load bar.
3.
Attach the wheel tray to the rear load bar by placing the remaining mounting clamp around the load
bar, slide the head of the remaining long carriage bolt into the slot on the bottom of the wheel tray,
and loosely attach it to the mounting clamp with a washer and nut.
4.
Connect the wheel tray to the fork mount by sliding the head of the short carriage bolt into the wheel
tray slot at the front end of the tray. Pass the short carriage bolt thru the center hole in the base of the
fork mount, then attaching the remaining washer and nut.
5.
Fully tighten all nuts starting with the one connecting the wheel tray to the fork mount. The mounting
clamps are fully tight when the tab between the jaw faces touches the opposite jaw, plus ¼ turn of the
nut.
6.
Install the WheelCrow wheel strap by placing the wire retainer through the loop in the end of the
strap, then sliding the retainer into the slot on the bottom of the wheel tray. NOTE: If your load
bars are far apart you may need to position the wheel strap in front of the wheel tray’s mounting
clamp.
7.
Install the skewer into the fork mount.
8.
Enjoy riding your bicycle!
