Installing a hard disk drive

The system may have one pre-installed 3.5-inch Serial ATA or IDE hard disk drive. 

Refer to this section to install additional Serial ATA or IDE hard disk drive(s).
To install a Serial ATA hard disk drive:

5.  Push in the bay locks to secure the 

optical drive

IDE ribbon cable

Power cable

6.  Connect a power cable from 

the power supply to the power 

connector at the back of the optical 

drive. 

7.  Connect one end of the IDE ribbon 

cable to the IDE interface at the 

back of the optical drive, matching 

the red stripe on the cable with Pin 

1 on the IDE interface.

1.  Lift up the secure tab.
