Please read these instructions carefully before installing your light.
Before you begin installation please take great care to ensure the surfaces you intend to mount the light fitting and solar panel
on are sturdy enough to take their weight. Failure to install your Astron Solar Bulkhead Light correctly could result in human or
animal injury, damage to your property and damage to your light. If you are at all unsure please contact your retailer or a
professional tradesman for advice. Always take great care when installing your Astron Solar Bulkhead Light, particularly in high
places.
Before installing your Astron Solar Bulkhead Light please consider the location of your light and solar panel before you start
making alterations to your property.
How it works
The Astron Solar Bulkhead Light has a powerful solar panel that charges a rechargeable 18650 lithium battery which is located
in the light unit. At night the charge stored in the battery powers the Astron Solar Bulkhead Light. The light is fully automatic so
once you have turned it on at the switch it will come on automatically each night and turn off automatically each morning.
Please note that the Astron Solar Bulkhead Light is designed to charge by day and light by night, so the light will not come on
while the solar panel is in lit conditions even if the light fitting is in a dark area.
Installing the Astron Solar Bulkhead Light Solar Panel
Before installing your solar panel you'll need to consider the best place for it to receive the most
amount of sunlight. There is 5m of cable attached to the solar panel so this location needs to be
within 5m of where you intend to instal the light. Position the solar panel in a South facing location
that is not obstructed by buildings, fences, trees, sheds, bushes or the shadows that these create.
Please note that a poor solar panel location will drastically reduce the performance of your
Astron Solar Bulkhead Light. Please remember that the solar panel will not charge inside behind
glass or under artificial light.
Your solar panel can be mounted on either a horizontal surface, such as a shed or garage roof,
or a vertical surface such as a wall or fence. Once you have decided on your solar panel
location, connect the two mounts to the solar panel by screwing them into the pre-drilled holes on the underside of the solar
panel frame.
Please ensure that the screw holes on the bottom of the mounts are facing outwards so that they are easily accessible when
it is time to fix your solar panel to your chosen surface. Once the mounts are attached offer up your solar panel and mark the
four holes. Prepare the holes and screw your solar panel into place using the supplied screws and screw plugs.
