Upper chain deck (Figure 78). Check for warping
and overall condition.

Feed plate (also called T-bar or feed grate retainer).
Make sure the adjustable gap is about 3/8 inch
(10 mm) between:
• feed plate and the chain links (Figure 80)
• feed plate and the feed drive

Hopper Head Floor . Make sure the adjustable gap
between the floor and head pulley is about 3/8 inch
(10 mm).
Also, make sure the bolts are tight.
Rotor rotation (Figure 81). Make sure the rotor
rotates freely and is not blocked by compacted
material.
Compression roll housing wear plate (Figure 81).
Check for wear.
Rotor wear plates (Figure 81). Check for wear and
loose bolts.
Anvil housing wear plate (Figure 81). Check for
wear.
Grates . Make sure that no part of a grate is less than
1/2 in. (13 mm) thick. The center of the grate wears
more than the sides.
Access the grates with the anvil housing raised and
through the side door (Figure 82).
