Machine Controls
Machine controls are located on the control panel and
on the remote transmitter. The control panel is powered
by the batteries. Circuit protection is provided by circuit
breakers. Power shut-off is provided by the disconnect
switches.
A gateway device is installed on the outside of the con-
trol box for the Remote Monitoring option. The gate-
way enables a wireless link for transmitting information
from the MD4 controller.
Electrical Disconnect
Switches
The 6710D is equipped with two switches to connect
and disconnect battery electrical power (Figure 6 on
page 14):
•
Control power disconnect
switch to disconnect
electrical power to all systems except the work
lights and the water sprayer system.
•
Battery disconnect
switch to disconnect
all
electri-
cal power.
For detailed information on the disconnect switches and
lockout procedures, see “Disconnect Switches” on
page 33.

WARNING
Personal injury hazard. Electrical hazard.
Unauthorized operation and electrical accidents
are possible when a machine is left unattended
with the electrical power enabled. Disconnect
electrical power at the battery disconnect
switch:
• Overnight and on weekends
• Whenever the operator is away
• During transport
Always use the battery disconnect to turn off the electri-
cal system.
Exception: if the work lights or the water sprayer are
required for maintenance, then use the control power
disconnect.
Follow “lockout/tagout” procedures with either switch.
See “Disconnect Lockout/Tagout” on page 34.
Circuit Breakers
Circuit breakers protect the electrical circuits. They are
located in the power distribution box. If a circuit breaker
trips, determine the cause. To reset a breaker, first open
the control power disconnect, push in the button on the
breaker, then close the control power disconnect.
If both of the electrical disconnect switches are turned
on, but the machine controls do not operate and the con-
trol panel is unlit, check the
CONTROL
POWER
CIRCUIT
BREAKER
(Figure 6). The button on a tripped breaker
extends out. Push it back in until it snaps into place.
For more information on circuit breakers and the power
distribution box, see the Electrical section in the
6710D
Maintenance Manual
