Discharge Conveyor Hazards
Figure 47: Warning: A Moving Conveyor is Hazardous
1
WARNING
It is dangerous and unlawful under U.S. law for
the machine to be within 10 ft (3 m) plus two
times the line insulator length of any electric
line.
1
CAUTION
When unfolding the conveyor, watch that no part
of the conveyor catches or tangles with any part
of the frame, overhead obstacles, or overhead
electrical lines.
1
CAUTION
When folding or unfolding the conveyor, keep
hands away from the pinch points.
1
CAUTION
Do not walk, stand, or work under the discharge
conveyor when it is fully or partly extended or
when the engine is running. You can be injured
by falling objects.
1
CAUTION
Do not walk on or climb on the conveyor belt,
even when it is stopped and without power. The
weight of one person can be enough to make the
conveyor roll or creep, endangering the person
or anyone else working on the conveyor.
Falling Objects Hazard
Any raised or overhead device has stored energy and
can fall if its supports fail or are caused to fail.
Do not place yourself under any object that can fall or
move caused by loss of hydraulic pressure or mechani-
cal support.
Do not walk under the discharge conveyor. If its support
system fails, the conveyor could fall and injure anyone
standing underneath it.
Pressurized Gases and Fluids
Hazards
Accidental release or leak of pressurized gases or fluids
can cause injury. Some systems remain pressurized after
the engine has shut down.
1
CAUTION
High-pressure hydraulic leaks can puncture skin
and cause blood poisoning. Do not check for
hydraulic leaks by hand. Use cardboard, heavy
paper, or other objects to detect a leak and its
source.
1
CAUTION
The engine radiator coolant reaches scalding
temperatures under pressure. Do not remove the
radiator cap when the engine is hot.
Electrical Energy Hazard
1
CAUTION
Always keep the battery terminals covered. Do
not attempt to charge the batteries without fol-
lowing the instructions of the battery or charger
manufacturer. Accidental short-circuit of the bat-
teries can cause explosion, burns, or fire.
