DANGER

 - Before using adapter as illustrated, be certain that

center screw of outlet plate is grounded. The green-colored rigid ear

or lug extending from adapter must be connected to a properly

grounded outlet-make certain it is grounded. If necessary, replace

original outlet cover plate screw with a longer screw that will secure
adapter ear or lug to outlet cover plate and make ground connection

to grounded outlet.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Once the connection instructions have been followed, the Red

'POWER' Light Emitting Diode (L.E.D.) lights when A.C. Power is

present. The Yellow 'CHARGING' L.E.D. then flashes to indicate

'Battery connected' and battery voltage greater than the 'Charging

Starting Voltage'.  The 'Charging Mode' begins when the Yellow

'CHARGING' L.E.D. is on continuously and charges the battery to
approximately (14.5Vdc Lead-acid battery Mode) or (14.1Vdc GEL

battery Mode) and the charging current reaches approximately

300mA.  Then the charger will transit to 'Float Mode' where the

Green 'CHARGED/MAINTAINING' L.E.D. illuminates.  If the battery

voltage reaches approximately (14.5Vdc Lead-acid battery Mode)

or (14.1Vdc GEL battery Mode) but the charging current does not
reach approximately 300mA in 120 minutes, the charger will be

forced to 'Float Mode'.

The regulating voltage is then reduced to a

lower level. The Float Mode allows the charger to effectively be left

connected to your batteries, over the course of a season, without

overcharging your batteries, and maintains your battery's full

charge. A regular, periodic check on your charging system, if left
unattended and powered, is still recommended (just as you would

with any electrical appliance).

Remark:

1.

LEAD ACID/ GEL battery selectable switch

The LEAD ACID battery mode or GEL battery mode are

selected by a slide switch. When you slide the switch to left-hand
side, GEL battery is selected. When you slide the switch to right

hand side, LEAD ACID battery is selected. The battery mode

should be properly selected, otherwise the battery cannot be fully

charged.

2.

The charging current selectable switch

The charging current can be changed to 800mA or 2A by a

switch.  For 800mA current mode, the charger is recommended for

charging maximum 20 AHr. LEAD ACID/GEL battery. For 2A

current mode, the charger is recommended for charging maximum

45 AHr. LEAD ACID/GEL battery.

REVERSE BATTERY /SHORT CIRCUIT/ OVERLOAD
PROTECTION.

The charger has reverse polarity of the battery and short circuit

protection. If a reverse battery or charger output lead short

condition exists (the Red 'POWER' L.E.D. flashes, while output

leads are connected backwards), simply unplug charger from AC
power and properly remake the connections as described in this

manual. The charger employs the use of thermal fuse at the

primary of the transformer that will permanently open during a

overheat condition. Besides, the charger employs a ceramic or

glass tube fuse at output section that will permanently open during

overload condition.

MAINTENANCE

Store in a clean, dry place. Occasionally, clean the case and cords

with a dry cloth.

away from battery keeping the battery terminal well removed there
from.

6.7

Do not connect any charger clips to carburetor, fuel lines, or

sheet-metal body parts.  Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of

the frame or engine block.

6.8

When disconnecting charger, turn switches (if supplied) to off,

disconnect charger from AC power, remove clip from vehicle
chassis, and then remove clip from battery terminal. See operating

instructions for length of charge information.

7

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WHEN BATTERY IS OUTSIDE

VEHICLE.  A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE

BATTERY EXPLOSION.  TO REDUCE RISK OF A SPARK NEAR

BATTERY:

7.1

Check polarity of battery posts.  POSITIVE (POS., P, +) battery

post usually has a larger diameter than NEGATIVE (NEG., N, -)

post.  Some batteries are equipped with 'Wing-Nut' terminals

allowing for easy placement of the terminals to these posts.

7.2

Attach at least a 24-inch long 18-gauge (AWG) insulated battery

cable to NEGATIVE (NEG., N, -) battery post.

7.3

Connect POSITIVE (RED) charger terminal to POSITIVE (POS., P,

+) post of battery.

7.4

Position yourself and free end of cable as far away from battery as

possible - then connect NEGATIVE (BLACK) terminal to free end of

cable.

7.5

Do not face battery when making final connection.

7.6

When disconnecting charger, always do so in reverse sequence of

connecting procedure and break first connection while as far away

from battery as practical

7.7

A marine (boat) battery must be removed and charged on shore.

To charge it on board requires equipment specially designed for

marine use.

Instructions for grounded cord-connected battery
chargers:

8.1

For all grounded cord-connected battery chargers:

GROUNDING AND AC POWER CORD CONNECTION

INSTRUCTIONS-  Charger should be grounded to reduce risk of

electric shock. Charger is equipped with an electric cord having an

equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug

must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and

grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER – Never alter AC cord and plug provided- if it will not fit

outlet, have proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Improper connection can result in a risk of an electric shock.

8.2

For grounded, cord-connected battery chargers with an input rating

less than 15 amperes and intended for use on a nominal 120-volt

circuit.

This battery charger is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has

a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in sketch A in

Figure 1. A temporary adapter, which looks like the adapter

illustrated in sketches B and C, may be used to connect this plug to

a two-pole receptacle as shown in sketch B if a properly grounded

outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only
until a qualified electrician can install a properly grounded outlet.
