Secure Authentication via Telnet
This menu option toggles between OFF (regular), CHALLENGE, and SEND PASSWORD authentication modes.
The default setting for each is OFF.
OFF (regular) authentication requires only the normal username/password authentication.
CHALLENGE requires the user send their username/password and then they are prompted with a short
challenge code. That code must be plugged into a program called Response Code Generator (RCG). This
software can be found on the Documentation and Utilities CD. Contact Asentria for more information on how
to use or obtain this application. RCG requires a shared secret as well as the challenge code generated by the
S571. The user must then respond with the proper hash generated by RCG in order to gain access.
SEND PASSWORD will generate a single-use password and send it to the Email address(es) specified by the
next option. That password will only allow a login for the user whom it was generated.
For Telnet / Modem, Send Password To
These fields are used to set the Email address(es) where the single-use password is to be sent.
Secure Authentication via Modem
This menu option toggles between OFF (regular), CHALLENGE, SEND PASSWORD and CALLBACK
authentication modes. The default setting for each is OFF. These options function only if a POTs Dial up modem
card is installed.
