Introduction
Thank you for choosing this
ARX i-switch SUB.
We hope you enjoy using this unique
product as much as we enjoyed creating it. As with all ARX equipment, it has undergone
extensive factory testing and ‘burn in’ before shipping. To ensure continued trouble free use,
please familiarise yourself with the contents of this manual before using.
About the i-switch SUB
The
i-switch SUB
is a unique precision piece of test equipment, being able to individually
send a choice of two program sources to any of 12 pairs of powered loudspeakers and any of
4 powered subwoofers, making it ideal for batch testing or demonstrating. For example,
Channel A could have program material, and Channel B have Pink Noise or a sine wave.
Interlocking switches prevent more than one Input being selected at a time.
Interlocking switches also prevent more than one Output pair being selected at a time, so that
each Output pair can be stepped through by pressing the subsequent switch. A status LED
shows which output is currently active. Separate Subwoofer switches allow up to 4 subwoofer
pairs to be connected and stepped through, independent of the other speakers. So you can
demonstrate any of 4 powered subwoofers with any of up to 12 powered loudspeakers, or the
other way round. It’s truly a flexible and useful product.
A global
Mute ALL
switch on the front panel lets you mute all the outputs if you need to stop
and answer questions or discuss product details with clients etc. Pressing the
Mute ALL
switch a second time will let the signal slowly ramp up back to the previous level.
All Inputs and Outputs are electronically balanced on Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack connectors, and
there is a Front panel 3.5mm Mini Jack connector that lets you easily access Input A with an
mp3
player.
Loop outputs allow the A and B Input signals to be looped to additional
i-switch SUB
units,
for larger testing arrays to be set up.
The
i-switch SUB’s
ultra low noise figures come from extensive use of premium components,
plus care and attention to board design and layout. The result is superb, transparent audio
quality and
the headroom to accurately reproduce the most demanding input signal.
A and B Input Gains are adjustable from Off through to +6 dB via level controls on the front
panel. LED status indicators show which Input is currently active.

Using the i-switch SUB

Setting Up
This is a single voltage unit. It is
essential
that you check that the voltage printed
on the lid of the chassis is the same as the power coming from the AC connector
on the wall, before connecting it to AC power.
Damage caused by connecting to the wrong AC voltage is NOT covered by your
warranty
1. Connect your choice of signal to the Balanced TRS jack input connectors of Channels
A
and
B
. Keep the levels reduced until all wiring has been checked.Y
ou can also connect a
lead from the 3.5mm output of an mp3 / portable media player to the Minijack Input on the
front panel instead of the Channel

2. Connect the outputs of the
i-switch SUB
to the inputs of your powered speakers. Up to 12
pairs can be connected.
3. Power up the speakers
4. Slowly bring up the
A and B input levels until the desired volume is reached

tep through the output switches and check that each speaker has been connected
properly
. A
status LED will light up to show which speaker is active.

You can also connect powered
SUB
cabinets
to the
i-switch SUB
. Just connect the
SUB
outputs of the
i-switch SUB
to the inputs of your powered speakers. Control the Sub
output volume with the SUB level control. Up to 4 pairs can be connected - simply step
through them as you would on the full range outputs 1–12.

Setting up your
i-switch SUB
is very straightforward and intuitive.
Firstly, connect the unit to AC power.
