5.2. The Lower Toolbar
When you hover the mouse over a parameter control, you will see a readout showing that
parameter name and a brief description of it in the left part of the lower toolbar.
Also, you will notice that a small popup window shows at the side of the parameter control,
displaying the current value of the parameter. This will also show the value changes when
you move the control (edit the parameter). This is handy, because you don’t need to touch
the parameter control to read the current value, and also you may keep looking at the
parameter while you read the value changes.
On the right side of the lower toolbar are several small windows and buttons. These are very
important features, so let’s take a closer look.
5.2.1. Stepped Controls
The plug-in controls only move to predetermined values. This behavior reproduces the
original behavior of the vintage unit which inspired this plug-in.
To change to the usual behavior, where you can define any value for these parameters,
just press Stepped Controls. When 'Stepped Controls' is OFF, you're not stuck to the values
provided by the original unit and can choose any value in between: continuous controls.
By default, Stepped Controls is on, so you have to press it to be able to move the controls to
any value you like.
5.2.2. Limiter Makeup Gain (Left and Right)
The Limiter Makeup Gain allows to control the gain of the Limiter. Being a special kind of
Compressor, the Limiter may also reduce the overall level of the audio when applied. This is
where you can compensate for that gain loss.
We have a gain control for each side. Gain can go up to 20.0 dB, and defaults to 0.00 dB
(no make-up).
