Cleaning and Disinfecting

The handpiece, attachments, aseptic battery housing, aseptic transfer kit and sterilizable
battery are supplied

non-sterile

and must be adequately cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized

prior to use or re-use.
Follow your country-specific directives, standards and guidelines for cleaning, disinfection
and sterilization.
Always wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as: gloves, eye protection,
face shields, gowns, etc.
To make cleaning and disinfecting easier, always clean and disinfect the Arthrex DrillSaw

Sports 400 System immediately after use; do not allow bodily fields and tissue to dry on any
of the system components.
With the exception of the aseptic battery pack and charging unit, Arthrex recommends

processing system components (handpiece, attachments, aseptic transfer kit , aseptic battery
housing and sterilizable battery) with an automated procedure using a washer/disinfector.

Remove any attachment and battery from the handpiece prior to cleaning.
Before charging the sterilizable battery, physically inspect the battery for damage and any
visible contamination.
Remove the aseptic battery pack from the aseptic battery housing, and clean and disinfect
the battery pack according to the instructions in Section 5.1.

Insert clean and dry battery onto charger and allow charging to full charge state.

Batteries should be stored on charger until immediately before the

sterilization process. Submerging a battery can

cause damage. Do not

submerge battery.

Do NOT autoclave the aseptic battery pack, or put it through the

Washer/Disinfector.

5.1

Aseptic Battery Pack

Do NOT autoclave the aseptic battery pack. It must be cleaned and disinfected after
use.
Do not immerse the aseptic battery pack or place it under running water as damage
to the components may occur.
Do not use disinfectants that contain chlorine or protein fixing effects. Use only those
cleaners/disinfecting agents that are certified by your facility.
