Installing and Connecting your Telephony
Modem
Before you start, make sure that:
You have contacted your service provider and verified that they provide data and
telephone service using standard DOCSIS technology.
You have all the
Items You Need
(page 10).
Cable, phone, and power outlets are available near the computer. If a cable outlet is not
conveniently located, your service provider can install a new one.
If you have ordered service, your service provider should configure the Telephony Modem
automatically. You need only follow the instructions in this section to install and connect the
Telephony Modem.
CAUTION
Risk of equipment damage
Only qualified installation technicians should connect the Telephony Modem to house wiring.
Incumbent telephone service must be physically disconnected at the outside interface box
before making any connections.
Front Panel
The front of the Telephony Modem has the following indicators.
1.
Battery:
indicates the battery status.
2.
Tel 2:
indicates the status of telephone line 2.
3.
Tel 1:
indicates the status of telephone line 1.
4.
Link:
indicates Ethernet connectivity between the Telephony Modem and computer. it
may be yellow or green to indicate the connection speed.
