1. Keep work area clean

An untidy and cluttered work area increases the risk
of accidents.

2. Use personal equipment

Always use safety glasses or goggles. A face mask should also
be worn when dust is generated. A respirator should be worn
when spray painting, even when using outdoors. Hearing
protection is recommended especially when using for longer
periods.

3. Wear suitable work clothes

Don’t wear loose fitting clothes or jewellery; they can be
caught in moving parts and may cause injury. For outdoor work
rubber gloves and non-slip footwear are advised. Wear a
protective hair net to contain long hair.

4. Take precautions with compressed air

Do not disconnect air hoses or tools when the line
is under pressure. Close off air supply and release
pressure first. Do not point tools or direct
compressed air at people or animals.
If an air hose becomes severed or disconnected, shut off the
air supply immediately as the hose can whip around and cause
a hazard.

5. Observe work area environment

Do not expose air tools to rain or damp and wet
conditions. Do not use air tools in close proximity
to flammable liquids or gases. The work area should
be well lit and ventilated. When using spray gun, work outdoors
only unless a properly constructed spray booth is available.

6. Keep children away

This equipment is not to be used by young children or infirm
persons, keep them away from the work area. Do not permit
them to handle air tools or the compressor.

7. Secure the work pieces

Use clamps or a vice to hold work. This will free up
both hands to operate the tool, which is safer.

8. Don’t overreach when working

Keep a balanced footing at all times. Avoid abnormal stances
and awkward body positioning.

9. Do not overload or force tools

Tools operate better in the specified performance ranges.
Forcing the tool may damage them.

10. Check for damage

Before further use always check the protection guards
carefully to ensure proper operation and performance. Check
for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts, mountings and any other condition that may
effect the tools operation. Regularly check the mains cord. If
damaged, it must only be replaced by an authorised service
agent. If the tool suffers severe impact, a crack or damage may
occur - do not use a tool if a crack develops or air is escaping.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! When using air tools, the following safety instructions must be observed to reduce the risk of personal
injury and property damage. Please read and observe the following instructions before use.

11. Recommended use - use the right tool

Only use air tools for their intended purpose. Do not force a
small tool or accessory to do the job of a heavy duty tool. Do
not exceed recommended air pressure.

12. When changing tools or accessories

Always close off air supply and release pressure before
attempting to loosen any connection

13. Beware of temperature extremes

The expanding air causes the air tools to run very cold. Light
gloves are advisable for operator
comfort. Conversely, the cylinder head and air
delivering pipe of the compressor tank will run
quite hot, avoid contact with these.

14. Maintain tools with care

For efficient and safe operation tools should be kept clean.
Check the connections and hoses regularly,
if damaged they should be replaced.

15. Avoid unintentional triggering

Do not carry tools or connect them with your finger on the
trigger.

16. Don’t abuse hoses

Do not carry tools by the hose or use the hose to drag the
compressor. Protect hoses from heat, oil and sharp objects.
Avoid draping the hose over the compressor cylinder head.

17. Storage

When not in use your power tools should be stored in a dry
area, which is not accessible to children.

18. Stay alert

Do not use the tool when you are tired. Use common sense and
watch what you are doing.

19. Remove keys and spanners

Do not forget to remove any adjustment keys,
spanners and wrenches before switching on the tool.

20. Nailers and Tackers

Take particular care with air nail guns. Observe all above safety
points - particularly avoid pointing the tool at others and
carrying by the trigger. Only use fasteners intended for the tool
and follow instructions provided with tool.

21. Don’t leave unattended

Do not leave the compressor operating while unattended for
extended periods of time. If you have finished using the
compressor and associated tools, switch off supply and
remove the plug.

22. Operating Time

The compressor motor is designed to run intermittently and
maintain the tank and associated equipment at rated operating
pressure. If the motor is forced to operate at 50% duty cycle
(equal On and Off times) for more than 30 minutes, it will
overheat and may cause permanent damage.

INTRODUCTION

The compressor is suitable for most small air tool
applications requiring pressures up to 0.8MPa (116psi)
and air delivery of up to 0.17m

3

(6.1cfm). It is intended

for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) home use and is covered by a
2 year warranty for such use.

IMPORTANT!

•  Ensure you are familiar with the safety

instructions before using the compressor.

•  Switch the motor of the compressor and

disconnect power when the machine is not in
use.

•  Release pressure if the machine will not be in use

for an extended period. Do not store with tank
under pressure.

• The compressor must have the correct amount of

oil filled in the crankcase before use. (The
compressor is shipped without oil to prevent
spillage during transport). Operating the
compressor without oil will cause damage and
avoid the warranty. (See “Before Use” section).

PARTICULAR SAFETY

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS

COMPRESSOR

• Do not attempt to dismantle, modify or adjust the

air regulator and safety valves.

• Avoid using extension cables to connect power to

the compressor. If you must use an extension
cable, use only a cable as short as is necessary to
reach. Excessive cable length can cause voltage
drops which result in poor motor starting,
overheating, slow running and insufficient
pressure.

OVERLOAD PROTECTION

The compressor is fitted with overload protection
device. In the event of an overload or excessive
heating of the compressor, the overload protection
switch may activate, shutting off power to the
compressor motor. Allow the compressor to cool and
press the overload switch button in before
proceeding to use the compressor.

Note: It is normal for the cylinder head and

associated pipe to become quite hot during
operation. Avoid touching the metal areas
which may be hot and do not allow the power
cord to drape over these areas.

BEFORE USE

1. Fit the wheels to unit by slipping the wheels onto

the axle bolts and fitting to tank base with nuts
supplied.

2. Fit the air filter to the inlet on the side of the

compressor cylinder. Do not over tighten.

3.

Important: The compressor must have the correct
amount of oil filled in the crankcase before use.
(The compressor is shipped without oil to prevent
spillage during transport). Operating the
compressor without oil will cause damage and
avoid the warranty.

Remove the plastic cap from the oil filler and use
the oil supplied to fill the crankcase until the oil
level seen through the sight glass is up to the
midpoint of the red circle. (Ensure compressor is
on level ground). Close the oil filler using the
plastic filler cap supplied (no.13 in Fig. 3). Push the
cap in place firmly.

TO USE

1. Plug in compressor and switch on by pulling the

on/off knob upwards. Ensure the compressor
outlet tap is closed.

2. The compressor motor will operate and pump air

into the receiver tank. You will observe the
pressure gauge reading increase as this occurs.
When the pressure reaches 0.8MPa, the pressure
switch will cut out and stop the motor.

3. When the air is consumed, the pressure falls and

at about 0.6MPa the pressure switch will cut in
and restart the motor of the compressor.

To adjust the pressure regulator

When there is no air flow, the main pressure gauge (10)
and the regulator outlet gauge (11) read the same value.
To adjust the regulated outlet pressure to the desired
value, open the outlet and allow air to flow. Adjust the
regulated pressure by turning the regulator knob (9) and

observing the regulated pressure on the regulated outlet
gauge (11). Turning the regulator knob clockwise
increases the regulated pressure. Push the knob of the
regulator down to lock it at the setting, pull it up to
adjust.
Adjust the regulator to deliver pressure recommended
for the accessory or tool you intend to operate from the
compressor.

To use a tool or accessory

The compressor can be used with a variety of tools
and accessories. These include blow guns  nailers,
paint sprayers, tyre inflators, wrenches etc.

1. Ensure regulated pressure is set to recommended

range for the tool or accessory.

Hint: For use with air tools such as nailers or
paint guns, start with the pressure at low level
(adjust the knob fully anti-clockwise) try the tool
and adjust up if necessary to achieve best
consistent operation of the tool. Avoid operating
tools at excessive pressure, as this may cause
wear or damage to tools.

2. Connect the tool accessory using a suitable hose.

3. Open the outlet valve to operate the tool or

accessory.

4. On completion of the task, shut off the outlet valve

and switch off the compressor. Release air
pressure from the accessory prior to
disconnecting the hose.

MAINTENANCE

1. Water accumulates in the tank due to the

presence of moisture in the air. Regularly drain
water from the tank by releasing the drain valve
on the underside of the tank. This should be done
with the tank under pressure, so that the water is
forced out. Do not completely undo the drain
valve, allow the water out slowly.

Do not leave the compressor for long periods with
water in the tank as this may encourage
corrosion.

2. Regularly clean the air filter element by blowing

out dust and washing in soapy water.

3.  Regularly check the oil level and top up if

necessary.

4. Change the crankcase oil after first 50 hours of

operation and thereafter every 200 hours of
operation. Remove the oil drain plug (20) and drain
the oil from the crankcase. Replace with 15W40
synthetic engine oil, and fill until the oil level is
inside the circle on the oil level sight glass. Refit
the oil filler cap.

5.  Regularly check the operation of the safety valve

(17) by pulling firmly on the ring of the valve. The
air in the tank should discharge and stop again
when the ring is released.
