8. Stand well away from the dead bat-
tery and start the vehicle with the
good battery. Allow the vehicle to
run for several minutes applying
some charge to the dead battery.
9. Start the vehicle with the dead bat-
tery and allow it to run for several
minutes before disconnecting the
jumper cables.
10. Remove the jumper cables in
opposite order of hook-up (4, 3, 2,
1). Be careful not to short cables
against bare metal.
NOTE: Have the battery and elec-
trical system checked prior to
operating the vehicle again.
FUEL FILTER
This diesel-powered ATV is equipped
with a high efficiency fuel filter. The fuel
filter should be changed in accordance
with the maintenance schedule or more
often if operated under severe conditions
or winter operation. To change the fuel
filter, use the following procedure.
1. Remove the right front fender
splash panel; then using an appro-
priate filter wrench, remove the
fuel filter.

2. Apply a light coat of oil to the seal
ring of the new fuel filter; then
install the filter. Tighten until the
seal ring contacts the filter head;
then tighten an additional ¾ turn.
3. Depress and release the manual
primer pump to charge the fuel filter
and purge any air from the system.

NOTE: Cycle the manual primer
pump until the lever becomes firm
and resistance is observed. The
system will bleed itself through the
tank return circuit.
4. Check for any fuel leaks; then start
the engine and check for normal
engine operation.
IDLE RPM
Do not attempt to make engine idle
RPM adjustments on the diesel engine.
If engine adjustments are necessary,
take the ATV to an authorized Arctic
Cat ATV dealer. The diesel engine
requires special tools and procedures
for which your authorized Arctic Cat
ATV dealer is equipped and trained.
THROTTLE CABLE
ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the throttle cable free-play:
! WARNING
Never make the final connection to
a battery as a spark could ignite
hydrogen gases causing an explo-
sion of the battery resulting in acid
burns or blindness.
! WARNING
Improper adjustment of a diesel
engine governor could cause over-
speed or runaway resulting in severe
injury or death.
