2.7. Initial Indications
Within a few seconds of the main batteries being installed (or in the case of the solar power
version, the power switch being set to ON), the left hand (red) LED of the signal strength
LEDs will start to flash. This indicates the system is initialising.
2.7.1. Network Signal Strength Indications
After several seconds more, the mobile network signal strength will be indicated on the
LEDs in accordance with the table below.

Ideally, for reliable communications, the unit should be positioned so that a minimum signal
strength of 3/5 (yellow LED only on) is achieved.
After a short time, the unit will enter standby mode. In this condition the signal strength
LEDs will switch off, but the yellow LED will give a very brief flash every five seconds.
To repeat the signal strength test, briefly press the Test Button. The signal LEDs will light
up for several seconds to indicate the signal strength before the unit returns to standby
mode.
