Important Advice:
During the cleaning process or right after a large amount of skim could be
developed due to the fact that a thin protein layer which is being removed be
the skim wiper of the skim tube is being removed right away. Test the effect of
the device before using the SkimClean in an automatic modus controlled by a
timer.
Assure that the pot does not go over the edges or create an additional overflow
on the skim pot.
During first days of operation we suggest to use the SkimClean in a manual
modus. In order to do so you put the plug power supply unit into the socket
and observe the cleaning process. After having found your personal
adjustment, change to the automatic modus using a timer for your SkimClean
(not included in delivery package). A cleaning interval from one to two days for
about 15 – 30 sec is sufficient!
Warning:
The device is not manufactured for permanent operation but only for interval
usage! Permanent or unnecessary cleaning with the SkimClean reduces the
lifetime of the device considerable and reduces the power of the protein
skimmer! Do only use the device with a timer! The transportation hose of the
integrated pump is a part subject to wear and would suffer from frequent
usage.
Maintenance:
The maintenance intervals of your skim remover will be extended and will
assure operation without loss of power caused by protein layers on the inside
of the skim tube.
During a main cleaning process of the skim pot do clean the mechanic of the
SkimClean under running water using a soft silicon brush. Make sure that the
drive unit does not touch the water for example through the 12VDC contact!
The housing of the drive is not water tight.
Never duck the device completely under water!
When necessary remove the filter housing (pos. 8) of the suction tube and
rinse thoroughly. When necessary rinse the cleaning nozzle.
