1. Volume control : With this button you can easily set the desired volume.

2. Treble control : Herewith you can add or decrease the high frequency.  Adding high frequency can
improve the intelligibility.  Adjust it to the desired level. In the centre position the
sound should be neutral.

3. Bass control : By adding bass you can add warmth to your music.  Decreasing bass can improve the
intelligibility of spoken messages, certainly in reverberant rooms.

4. On/Off : When the AC plug is connected to the mains circuit, you can turn the unit on or off with this

button.  When the unit is switched ON, the green led should illuminate.

5. Clip leds : Each channel has its clip led, indicating that max. power is reached.

The system should be used without activating this red warning leds.
Turn down the volume if these leds are flashing.

When you neglect this warning, your system may get overheated or damaged.

6. RCA inputs : Here you can connect your sound source.  These inputs have to be fed with a input
signal at LINE level (cd, dvd, vhs, tuner, mixing table…..).  Connecting a microphone will give bad
result.  In this case, you should use a microphone mixer or preamplifier.
The left RCA plug (red) will feed the built in amplifier for the passive external loudspeaker.  The right
(white) plug will send your music to the amplified main unit.

7. 3, 5 mm stereo jack input : This line level stereo input is very useful to connect you
computer, portable sources (CD, MD, MP3 players,  …).

8. Balanced line inputs : These three pin inputs can be used to feed the line level signals from devices
with balanced outputs (Shield, hot, cold). Balanced wiring is recommended when the input lines are
long or placed in a interpherence area.  When hum appears when feeding the line input, it can be
useful not to connect the shield at the SDQ5P side.  These signals will be mixed with the signals fed
into the rca and jack input, meaning you can use them at the same time.

9. Speaker output : These two pin euroblock plug should be used to feed the shipped passive loud

-

speaker.  Using other loudspeakers can give bad result and even cause damage to the main SDQ unit.
Be sure the “+” socket of the main unit is connected to the “+” of the passive

loudspeaker and the “-“ to “-“.

10. Mode switch : This switch turns your SDQ5P in a full stereo or a very compact full option mono
system.  When switched to the mono mode, you should only use the “Left” inputs. From this input left
and right amplifier will be fed.

11. Mains socket : The unit can be branched to the mains circuit by a standard IEC type power cord.
This socket contains a 1 A slow blow  fuse.  Use a screw driver to flip out the fuse compartment and
to replace the fuse.  When this fuse blows frequently you should bring the SDQ to a qualified service
centre.  First check whether you didn’t use a quick-blow fuse.
To avoid ground loops, certainly when using audio signals from computers, this socket doesn’t contain

a ground pin!

12. Heat sink : When using your SDQ5P at full power and for a long time, this heat sink might become

very hot, do not touch ! Take care when placing it to close to other items sensitive to heat.
