Fault Locate Test
To run the Fault Locate test application:
1. Connect the fiber to be tested to the measurement
port (see “Connecting Fiber to the Measurement
Port” on page 2-20 for details).
2. Power up the unit. The unit performs a self-test and
then launches the Fault Locate application.
The next screen displayed depends on the Power
Meter Step and Connection Check Step settings
made on the Preferences Setup screen (see
Figure 4-4 on page 4-5).
Note
The Power Meter Step (step 3) only applies to units
with the factory installed Power Meter option.
3. Power Meter Step –
Depending on the Theshold value set for the Power
Meter step (see “Setting the Power Meter Threshold
Value” on page 4-16 for details), the Power Meter
Step screen will display one of the following ratings:
PASS, FAIL, Over Range, or Under Range.
•
If the rating is “PASS” or “Over Range” no
further testing is required.
•
If the rating is “FAIL” or “Under Range”, press
Continue ( F1 ), to proceed to the Fault Locate
step.
Note
•
For 1550 nm units, Continue ( F1 ) is dimmed
and you can not proceed with the OTDR Fault
