Product Care & Maintenance

How do I sanitize and clean my clipper or trimmer?
First brush out any hair with a clipper brush (tool turned off). The blade can be cleaned by
applying either Andis Blade Care Plus or Andis Cool Care Plus. However, only Cool Care Plus
has a disinfecting ingredient.
How often should I sanitize my clipper or trimmer?
You should clean and disinfect your tools after each use.
What type of oil should I be using?
We strongly recommend you use Andis Company clipper oil which is specially formulated for
Andis clippers and trimmers. However, other clipper blade oils will also work.
Should I disassemble my product when cleaning it?
Nearly all Andis clippers feature a sealed unit design therefore disassembly for cleaning is not
required. However, tools with a 'snap-on' blade design may be removed to allow for more
thorough blade brushing/cleaning.
How can I stop my blades from rusting?
Regularly cleaning, oiling and storing your blades in a low humidity environment will help avoid
corrosion.
My Andis clipper is making a loud noise, what can I do?
It may need adjustment to work with the line voltage in your area. To adjust (clean and oil your
blade first), turn the SMALL power screw on the side of the clipper clockwise until the noise
disappears. Learn more by watching our How to Adjust Your Clipper's Power Screw video.
Can my clipper and trimmer blades be sharpened?
Yes, most Andis clipper blades can be sharpened at our factory repair center or at Andis
Authorized Service Stations. However, because of the length of the teeth on trimmer blades we
do not recommend that these be sharpened. Find a service center near you.
How long should a fully charged battery last on a rechargeable clipper or trimmer?
When fully charged, newer Andis rechargeable clippers with lithium-ion batteries will run for up
to 2 hours. Clippers with Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd batteries will run for about one hour. Newer trimmers,
on the other hand, when fully charged, will run between 20 to 40 minutes. To maximize the life
of your trimmer battery, about every two months, run the trimmer completely down, and fully
recharge overnight.
How do I take good care of my Andis curling iron or flat iron?
Andis' heated styling tools are easy to use and require little maintenance. Make sure your hair is
completely dry before using and always allow the tool to cool before storing. Store your tool by
loosely wrapping the cord around its base and inspect regularly for cuts or nicks in the cord.
Should you find any, discontinue use. Avoid getting the tool wet.
How do I take good care of my Andis hair dryer?
Andis Company hair dryers are easy to use and require little upkeep. If necessary, you can clean
the outside of the dryer with a moist rag or sponge (when unplugged). The filter screen can be
