SIDE RAIL POSITIONS
WARNING:
Patients should be evaluated for entrapment risks according to faulty protocol and monitored
adequately.
WARNING:
Ensure that all side rails are fully latched when in the raised position. Failure to do either of
these could result in serious injury or death.
NOTE:
Side Rails are intended to be a reminder to the patient of the unit’s edges, not a patient-restraining device.
When appropriate, Amico recommends that medical personal determine the proper methods necessary to ensure a
patient remains safely in stretcher.
Raising the Side Rails
• Grasp the top of the side rail and pull it out from underneath its stored position.
• Pull the side rail up until it clicks into place.
• To make sure the side rail is fully latched, try pivoting the side rail down.
Lowering the Side Rails
• Pull up the side rail.
• Grasp the top of the side rail.
• Simultaneously rotate the side rail down and release the side rail release lever.
• Completely lower the side rail.
Storing the Side Rails
To store a side rail, completely lower the side rail and then push it toward the sleep surface until it stops.
