2.14.6 EtherCAT Interface (Optional)
EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology) is an open high-performance Ethernet-
based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT was to apply Ethernet to automation
applications which require short data update times (also called cycle times) with low
communication jitter (for synchronization purposes) and low hardware costs.
The Asterion series power supplies have an optional EtherCAT interface that allows accessing
most of the read and writing registers. The registers that are available are listed in Table 2-20.
Registers Available - EtherCAT Interface
These write and read registers are linked to EtherCAT PDOs (Process Data Objects), which
allow real time control of the power supply. Available PDOs are shown in Table 2-22.
