Remote Graphics

This section provides a brief overview of remote graphics—specifically PC-over-IP®

(PCoIP®), a technology developed by Teradici® for remotely connecting a thin client to

a PC/workstation/blade PC containing an AMD FirePro™ R5000 workstation graphics

card.

5.1  Remote Graphics Hardware

Remote graphics help separate a workstation user from the physical PC while

providing the same graphics performance and computing experience offered by a

discrete workstation graphics accelerator. Typically, this results in a work

environment where users have a thin client, displays, keyboard, and mouse on their

desks, while the PC systems or servers containing the CPU, graphics solution, and hard

drives are all located together somewhere else.
AMD FirePro™ R5000 workstation graphics combines a workstation GPU and a PCoIP

transmitter on a single PCIe® add-in card.
The PC connects to a thin client using a RJ-45 connection. This connection supports

quad remote displays at up to 1920×1200 resolution.
