OEM Camera Retention

Alpine aftermarket head units provide the ability to monitor your cargo while towing via the Direct
Camera hard key. On the 2014-2018 Silverado/Sierra, the OEM camera will only turn ON while the
vehicle is running and in REVERSE. This means when pushing the Direct Camera hard key it will not
display the camera video. Follow the steps below to solve the issue.

Locate the camera connector under the rear bumper electrical block.

Cut the WHITE wire in pin 3.

Tape or heat shrink the vehicle side of the wire.

The side going to the camera needs to be tapped onto the RED wire in pin 1.

Work trucks and trucks with the IO3 OEM
system do not have the HMI box behind the
glove box. Instead the camera connection is
in the adapter harness as shown on page 12.
Plug that harness into the direct camera input
coming off the main harness.

For trucks equipped with OEM camera, disconnect the
Gray 12-pin connector from the HMI box and connect
it to the OEM Camera adapter.
