Using the AlphaSmart PC "Y" cable: Follow the "Installing the PC Y Cable" instructions in
your AlphaSmart User's Guide or Owner's Manual.

Using Infrared (IrDA): For serial port installations, connect the PC IR Wireless Pod to one of
the COM ports of the computer. For USB installations, connect the USB IR Wireless Pod to
one of the USB ports of the computer. Point the AlphaSmart’s Infrared port at the IR Pod.
Sending Text to the AlphaSmart from a PC using a Cable Connection
1. Copy the text into the PC Clipboard. To do this, open the file containing the text you wish to
send, select the text using the mouse or cursor keys, and select Copy (Ctrl-C) on the Edit
menu.
2. Attach the AlphaSmart to the PC, and launch the Get Utility (double click on its icon). You will
see the copied text in the "Text in Clipboard" window.
3. Press the
Send Text To AlphaSmart
button to send the text from the PC to the AlphaSmart.
The "Text in Clipboard" is sent to the current file on the AlphaSmart. You may change the
AlphaSmart file by selecting a file on the file pop-up menu.
4. You may now disconnect your AlphaSmart.
To download to other AlphaSmarts, it is not necessary to quit Get Utility and relaunch it.
Sending Text to the AlphaSmart from a PC Using Infrared
1. Copy the text into the PC Clipboard. To do this, open the file containing the text you wish to
send, select the text using the mouse or cursor keys, and select Copy (Ctrl-C) on the Edit
menu.
2 Launch the Get Utility (double click on its icon). You will see the copied text in the "Text in
Clipboard" window. At this point the Get Utility will begin scanning for an infrared-equipped
AlphaSmart.
