Check that your impeller and shaft are seated correctly and not damaged
in any way.
Ensure the impeller is free of any type of blockage and can rotate freely inside the
motor head.
Priming Problems
If air remains trapped in the system after initial setup, please restart the process and
follow these guidelines:
Check all hosing and pipework is connected correctly, air tight a
n
d
unrestricted.
Reinsert the Inlet / Outlet tap (part 1) to be sure it is securely installed a
n
d
set to open
(lever down).
Ensure all Inlet / Outlet pipework connection points are fully submerged whilst
priming.
Fill the EF
filter body (part 5) with aquarium water, this will aid the priming of the EF.
Prime the EF without the surface skimmer (part 15) attached - this can be re- attached
after priming.
Ensure the EF
filter body (part 5) is not over stocked with media and foam as this can
restrict water
flow and affect the priming function.
The Water In My Aquarium Is Dirty
Causes:
The
beneficial bacteria have not yet established in your new filter.
Your
filter is not the correct size for your aquarium set up.
You have too many
fish for your size filter.
Your
filter media may be dirty.
Solutions:
Your
fish tank can take up to 3 weeks to successfully cycle. You may also want
to add a bacteria start treatment to your tank to speed up this process.
You may need to upgrade to a larger
filter. For reference, you should allow 1 gallon
of water per 1 inch of
fish in your aquarium.
Follow the instructions in the maintenance section above.
If you have not yet done so, you may also need to carry out more regular
water changes in your tank.
