THE

 

CURRENT

 

METER

 

 

This

 

illuminated

 

meter

 

indicates

 

the

 

current

 

supply

 

to

 

the

 

gain

 

tubes

 

in

 

the

 

L

‐

1500.

 

It

 

is

 

an

 

indicator

 

of

 

failure

 

or

 

damage

 

to

 

the

 

function

 

of

 

the

 

unit.

 

The

 

needle

 

should

 

be

 

between

 

the

 

two

 

parallel

 

lines

 

just

 

left

 

of

 

centre

 

on

 

the

 

meter

 

face.

 

Any

 

failure

 

of

 

the

 

tubes

 

or

 

circuits

 

in

 

the

 

L

‐

1500

 

is

 

indicated

 

by

 

the

 

meter

 

needle

 

moving

 

out

 

from

 

between

 

these

 

two

 

parallel

 

lines.

 

You

 

need

 

to

 

switch

 

the

 

meter

 

and

 

check

 

both

 

channels

 

to

 

ascertain

 

what

 

has

 

occurred

 

(Use

 

the

 

toggle

 

switch

 

located

 

on

 

the

 

bottom

 

of

 

the

 

chassis,

 

behind

 

the

 

bottom

 

left

‐

hand

 

corner

 

of

 

the

 

L

‐

1500

 

front

 

panel,

 

to

 

switch

 

the

 

meter

 

between

 

the

 

right

 

and

 

left

 

channels

 

–

 

toggle

 

to

 

the

 

left

 

is

 

left

 

channel

 

and

 

vice

‐

versa).

 

 

If

 

the

 

needle

 

has

 

moved

 

to

 

the

 

left

 

of

 

the

 

parallel

 

lines

 

on

 

one

 

channel

 

only,

 

it

 

means

 

that

 

the

 

E810F

 

tube

 

for

 

that

 

channel

 

is

 

failing.

 

If

 

the

 

needle

 

has

 

moved

 

to

 

the

 

left

 

of

 

the

 

parallel

 

lines

 

on

 

both

 

channels,

 

it

 

means

 

both

 

E810F’s

 

are

 

failing.

 

If

 

the

 

needle

 

moves

 

to

 

the

 

right

 

of

 

the

 

parallel

 

lines,

 

it

 

means

 

that

 

one

 

or

 

the

 

other

 

of

 

the

 

voltage

 

regulator

 

tubes

 

(7233

 

or

 

6485)

 

is

 

failing.

 

In

 

this

 

case,

 

the

 

needle

 

will

 

always

 

be

 

to

 

the

 

right

 

of

 

the

 

parallel

 

lines

 

on

 

both

 

channels.

 

 

In

 

the

 

case

 

of

 

any

 

failure

 

indicated

 

by

 

the

 

meter,

 

please

 

contact

 

Hammertone

 

Audio

 

for

 

assistance.
