x600 Series Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet Switches Installation Guide

SFP Transceiver Slots

All of the x600 Series switches feature slots for four optional Gigabit
Ethernet SFP transceivers that interconnect network devices over large
distances using fiber optic cable. SFP tranceivers are also available with a
copper cable interface allowing a host device designed primarily for optical
fiber communications to also communicate over unshielded twisted pair
networking cable. Figure 9 illustrates an SFP transceiver.
