Installing the Backplane
You need a Phillips screwdriver during the installation.
To install the backplane:
1. Power off the chassis.
2. Remove the modules from the chassis to expose the existing backplane.
3. Remove the Phillips screws from the existing backplane and place them
4. Remove the existing backplane and place it in a static-resistant cover.
Store the de-installed backplane for future use.
5. Mount the backplane onto the back interior wall of the chassis, using the
screws you set aside in Step 3.
See Figure 16 on page 23 for the proper location of the backplane in the
chassis.
Note
Secure the screws tightly by turning them clockwise until you meet
resistance. This prevents loose screws from becoming dislodged within the
chassis and protects the equipment from damage.
Be sure the “J” numbers (i.e., chassis slot codes) etched on the face of the
backplane match the slot position for the chassis. See Table 5 for an
example.
