Troubleshooting
This guide is meant to help resolve common issues that occur when setting up
the 42EF.
Checklist
Error

Remedy
Power indicator
LED does not
light up
The power supply is
switched off.
Check to see if there’s a reason
for it to be switched off
(installation or maintenance
work, and so on). Switch on
the power supply if
appropriate.
Power indicator
LED does not
light up
The 4-pin M12 plug is
not connected to the
connector on the sensor
Connect the 4-pin M12 plug
to the sensor and tighten the
cap nut by hand.
Power indicator
LED does not
light up
Wiring fault in the
splitter or control
cabinet.
Check the wiring carefully and
repair any wiring faults.
“Operator
indicator”
LED does not
light up
Supply cable to the
sensor is damaged.
Replace the damaged cable.
No IO-Link
connection to the
device
The C/Q
communication port on
the sensor is not
connected to the IO-
Link master
Make sure that the C/Q
communication port is
connected to the IO-Link
master.
No IO-Link
connection to the
device
No power supply
See error “Operator indicator”
LED does not light up.
Push button does
not respond to
user interface
Local operation has been
de-activated.
Activate local operation.
