DM8 MP DIAGNOSTIC TEST PROCEDURE
Revisions:
1.0 - Taken from DM8 MP Diagnostic Test Procedures v1.2
- Removed PREVIEW velocity sensitivity in switch test, just a simple button now
- Removed AUX OUT audio testing
- Replaced AUX IN RCA jacks with reference to 1/8” TRS jack
- Removed MIDI test (will be replaced with MIDI IN test at a later date)
- Removed Fader Test
- Reduced SNR requirement of DAC->Main by 1dB based on Rev1 PCB measurements
- Relaxed AUX IN -> MAIN SNR and THD requirements based on Rev1 PCB measurements
- Relaxed AUX IN -> PHONES SNR requirement based on Rev1 PCB measurements
- Put note to SKIP Trigger and Hihat Control Input Test for now.

1. Testing the power supply
Plug the external power supply into the AC line voltage source, but do not plug the power supply into the
DM8 yet.
Use an AC volt meter and measure the AC voltage on the power supply output plug. It should be 9VAC to
12VAC.
If the voltage is too high, it may damage the DM8 unit. Do not plug it into the DM8.Locate and correct the
problem with the power supply or the AC Line voltage before continuing with the test.
After verifying the AC power supply voltage is correct, plug it into the DM8 and continue with Step #2.
2. Entering Diagnostics Mode
While holding down [STOP] and [REC], turn on power. The unit will enter diagnostic mode. Note that a
restart is required to exit diagnostic mode.
After start-up is complete the LCD will display the first test. On the test selection page,
these buttons can be used to do the following:
[CURSOR UP] select previous test
[CURSOR DOWN] select next test [PLAY] run test
After a test finishes and displays either a pass or fail, the [STOP] button will exit the test to return to the test
selection page.
